Stress is a normal part of life. However, some people are equipped with the right coping mechanisms that are needed to deal with stress and others have difficulty handling their stress to the point where it affects their mental health. You Should Seek Help When…

1. You find it difficult to handle Your emotions

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmingly sad, angry, empty, or any other type of negative emotion as a result of your high levels of stress, you need to seek help. These emotions could simply be just emotions or they could be signs of a developing mental illness. However, you shouldn’t ignore it either way. Seek out a mental health professional who can help you manage your stress as well as your emotions.

2. You’re eating too much or too little

A major change in appetite is almost always a sign of an emotional problem. What’s worse is that you may end up developing an eating disorder and an unhealthy relationship with food as a result of this appetite change. Prevent this by going to a therapist and, should you end up seeing the signs of an eating disorder, someone who can help you with that as well.

3. Excessive fatigue

For those of you who are feeling extremely tired throughout the day and who find it difficult to tackle the easiest of tasks, you could be suffering from depression. Even if you aren’t, excessive fatigue is still a problem that can put a damper on your productivity levels, which is a problem considering you are most likely stressed because all of the things you have to do. Seek help so that you will be able to get back to your life and regain your normal energy levels.

4. You begin having Panic attacks

Panic attacks can be terrifying, which is why they’re called panic attacks. While this may seem like something you can deal with at times, this problem can become even worse over time if you allow it to remain untreated. Seek help from a psychologist who can help you to overcome your stress, your fears, and provide you with medication if deemed necessary.

5. Your stress begins manifesting itself in physical ways

When your health begins to decline because you are too stressed out, you have a problem. Some common health problems that are created by too much stress include obesity, headaches, and stomach problems. If you believe that your stress is creating problems for your body, first visit a doctor to solve the physical issues and then visit a therapist who can help you sort out the mental and emotional issues.

6. You  begin considering suicide as a viable solution to your problems

As you probably know, suicide is never the answer. No matter how difficult of a time you may be going through at the moment, there is most absolutely a solution to your problems and it doesn’t include ending your life.
